How to check which version you have
Open the Applications folder. Each Adobe application will be followed by a year.
If you see '2020', you will need to download an older version in order to work on Emerson’s lab computers.
How to download an older version of any Creative Cloud app
Older versions of Creative Cloud software must be downloaded through the Creative Cloud Desktop app. Before CC 2019, the desktop app was the only way to download any CC software.
The first step is to see if you have the desktop app installed. To do so, check whether or not you have a Creative Cloud symbol in the menu bar (top right of your screen, near the time) or use the spotlight search (magnifying glass) and search Creative Cloud.

Once you have the desktop app installed, open the interface by clicking on the Creative Cloud logo in the menu bar. Select the Apps tab. Here you will find a list of all the Creative Cloud applications, even ones you have not installed.
To the right of each application will be a button reading ‘open,’ ‘install,’ ‘update,’ or ‘launch.’ Find the program you need to download. In this example, we will use Premiere.

Click this and select ‘manage’ then ‘other versions.’
Another window will open with various version numbers. Select the correct version number based on our lab software chart: Post Lab Software versions
That it! Just be careful that you always open your project in the correct version. If you simply double-click on a project file, it will likely open in 2020. Avoid this by opening the 2019 program first then select the project under file/open project...
How to send an After Effects project from 2020 to 2019
Open your project in CC 2020. Open the file menu and select "Save As" then "save a copy as CC (15). This will create a new, duplicate project file. This new file will open in CC 20198
NOTE: It is a good idea to rename your project files so that you always know which version to open.
How to send a Premiere project from 2020 to 2019
Unfortunately, there is no official way to migrate a 2020 project to 2019. Below are two workarounds for this problem. Please see Kieran McKeon in Ansin 802 for assistance with this if needed.
XML: Open your Premiere project in 2019. Export each of your sequences as a Final Cut XML. If you have multiple sequences, you will want to create a folder and name each individual XML in an organized fashion.
Now open CC 2018. Import all of your XMLs, and your sequences should appear exactly as they did in 2019.
Unfortunately, this method does not account for bins or other project organization & meta data. If you are dealing with a larger complicated project, it may be worth trying an alternative method.

Photoshop, Illustrator, and other programs
Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are backward compatible, so all you have to do is download the 2019 version and your project should open properly.

Why is Emerson still using Creative Cloud 2019?
It is our policy to remain on the same version until the end of the academic year - labs will be upgraded to 2020 over the summer.
